1. Information We Collect
Givaro collects the following categories of information to operate and improve the platform:
Account Information
- Email address or phone number used to register
- Display name and profile information you choose to provide
Usage & Preference Data
- Saved items, wishlists, and gift ideas
- Style preferences, size information, and interest tags
- Notes and reminders you create within the app
Device & Technical Data
- Device type, operating system, and app version
- Usage patterns and feature interactions (anonymized)
- Crash reports and performance diagnostics
What We Do NOT Collect Givaro does not collect credit card numbers, government identification numbers, social security numbers, financial account information, or other sensitive personal data beyond what is required to operate the app.
2. How We Use Your Information
Givaro uses your information to:
- Provide and maintain core app functionality
- Power and improve the Taste Graph™ recommendation engine
- Personalize your gifting experience and suggestions
- Send reminders for birthdays, anniversaries, and gifting occasions
- Fix bugs, improve performance, and develop new features
- Communicate with you regarding your account
3. Anonymized & Aggregated Data
Givaro may use anonymized and aggregated data — derived from collective user activity with all personal identifiers removed — to:
- Improve recommendation accuracy and app features
- Develop new product categories and insights
- Create commercial insights shared with partners (see Section 4)
This data cannot identify any individual user and is processed in accordance with industry-standard anonymization practices.
4. Data Sharing
What we may share: Givaro may share anonymized, aggregated insights with retailers, brands, and analytics partners for research, product development, and commercial purposes. These insights contain no personally identifiable information.
What we never share: Givaro does not share, sell, rent, or disclose your personal information or individually identifiable behavioral data to any third party for commercial purposes.
We may disclose personal information only when required by law, court order, or government authority, or to protect the rights and safety of Givaro and its users.
5. Opt-Out Rights
You may opt out of contributing your anonymized activity to aggregated insights at any time through Data Preferences in your app settings. This preference can be changed at any time and does not affect your access to the app or the quality of your personal recommendations.
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know, the right to delete, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (which Givaro does not conduct).
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, rectify, erase, or port your data.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the app's services. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or legitimate business necessity.
You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting privacy@givaro.app.
7. Data Security
Givaro employs industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:
- End-to-end encryption for data in transit (TLS/SSL)
- Encrypted data storage at rest
- Access controls and authentication requirements for our systems
- Regular security reviews and audits
While we take reasonable precautions, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
Givaro does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will take immediate steps to delete that information. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@givaro.app.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your region, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information Givaro holds about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Delete your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
- Export your data in a portable format
- Restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests
To exercise any of these rights, please contact privacy@givaro.app. We will respond to all requests within 30 days.
10. Changes to This Policy
Givaro may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or via email. Your continued use of Givaro after the effective date of any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
